OPA Alne celebrate 100% pass rate for phonics screening assessment

ٴ Primary Academy Alne, based on Main Street in Alne, is celebrating success after achieving 100% pass rate in the Year 1 phonics screening assessment.

All children from ٴ Primary Academy Alne, who took part in the Year 1 phonics screening assessment reached or exceeded the pass mark.

The phonics screening check is a short assessment of pupils’ phonics skills at the end of Year 1.

Phonic decoding is seen as one of the most widely recognised and successful approaches to teaching young children to read.

Emma Copeland, Reading Lead at OPA Alne said:

“We are extremely proud of our children for their recent successes.  This result highlights the firm grounding they all have in the early decoding skills necessary to develop their reading ability and to develop a lifelong love of reading.”
