°Ù´ºÁ´ Grange Academy Named As ‘One To Watch’ In EdTech 50 Schools Report
°Ù´ºÁ´ Grange Academy has been praised in a report that looks into the use of technology in education.
The secondary school, based on Potovens Lane, Wakefield, was named in the ‘ones to watch’ section of the report, produced by The Education Foundation and EdtechUK.
Those in this section were praised for ‘developing imaginative uses of digital to support teaching and learning.’
Regarding °Ù´ºÁ´ Grange Academy specifically, the judges noted that the academy ‘uses G Suite and has created an interesting quizzing platform; currently being developed for new subjects, beyond its initial adoption for Computer Science, Business and History.’
Nick Houlton, 2nd in Department - Computing & ICT, said: “We are delighted that °Ù´ºÁ´ Grange Academy has been selected as ‘one to watch’ by the Edtech judges. It it encouraging that our work in this area has been noted externally.
“At °Ù´ºÁ´ Grange, and the wider °Ù´ºÁ´ Grange Academies Trust, we believe in putting students first, raising standards and transforming lives. To do this, we know we need to keep on improving our approach to teaching.
“We are constantly reviewing and evaluating our use of technology within the Trust, to find ways to further better the resources available to our staff to keep improving the education our students receive.â€
The Edtech 50 Schools describes itself as ‘a celebration of the work going on in schools across the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, that use education technology to support great teaching and enhance learning.’
The annual report is supported by Intel, Jisc, NetSupport, and in partnership with the Chartered College of Teaching, Independent Schools Council, and TES. It highlights ‘digital flagship schools who demonstrate a focused sense of what is useful to them in terms of technology.’
